Asphalt lake in Trinidad

After surviving the carnival, we had time to be a little touristy before heading back to Tobago with the ferry. We went to see the famous pitch lake of Trinidad which supplies the world with asphalt for making roads. The stuff comes out of the ground and is gathered  to be used for paving roads. The most bizarre thing is that the roads in Trinidad and Tobago are incredibly bad and filled with potholes even though this “lake” is the third largest in the world.
